Can you leave the U.S. while your name check is pending?

I have taken Citizenship interview last October and my name check is pending since then.

I just heard of somebody who left recently for two weeks abroad, with similar situation, and she was not let in back to U.S. She is a green card holder and been here for 14 years, and the U.S. denies the entry. It is scary....

Can you tell us what the circumstances were that led to denial of entry? As per my info travel outside should be ok

I agree. I have traveled outside the country and came back with no problem. Well, there should not be any problem if you are a resident.

Hi all,

I am not sure why the person I mentioned was not allowed back to US. All I know that she visited abroad several times and there was no problem coming back.

thank you for all the responses.

I was 4 times abroad on three different continents since my N-400 interview and never had any problem coming back to the US.

Even if your green card expires, if you applied at least 6 months before it expired, you can take an InfoPass appointment and they will stamp an I-551 (effectively a green card) in your passport.

it depends

it depends for how long your name is pending and if you have any application on the role pending with them. i have I-751 and N-400 pending for 2 years because of the name check and i was told by a CIS oficer to not leave the country because when i come back i will be threated as "SECUNDARY" and perhaps i will be sent back home since my paperwork is pending. :o ...
I have myself another big problem and i ask you guys to please help me! yesterday i filled my law suit for my naturalization application. everything was fine exepted i was in such a hurry, and i sent my husband to serve the district attorney without to PUT THE CASE NUMBER ON THE COMPLAINT ! the case number appears only on his summon. please advise me what i can do in this matter?, i know i am very stupid and this mistake is going to cost me but is there anything i can do to repaire this? thanks very much and God bless you all who participate in this process. without this site i would have myself registered in a mental institution, because i was thinking that i, alone was dealing with USCIS and their incompetence
