Can you go for stamping in your neighbouring state??

Appreciate your advice on the following question:

My status: Got 485 approval emails last week.

Qn: If I am a resident in the border of one state (adjoining another state), if I don't get a infopass appt for my passport stamping in my local dist office, Can I go to the neighbouring state's district office?? Can I get my passport stamped from this neighbouring state's district office where I can get a infopass appt easily??

It depends , some people on this board was rejected while the others were accepted. If you really cannot make a appointment locally,try it at your own risk and good luck.

Yes you can...I am sure on this..because friend of mine got stamping at CA , orginally he lives in IL . He was travelling to CA on work...
did his 551 stamping done without any issues/problems . . .

Thank you for your responses. I will continue to try to get a local appt and if cannot get for the next 2 or 3 weeks, then I shall try it at a neighbouring state.
