I hope you are aware that USCIS offices don't give good information, other than the status of a specific case for which you've already applied. If you're asking them about your eligibility for a green card, they'll often give you wrong answers or no answers at all.
Avoid USCIS office, you could be detained. For example, in Baltimore, MD...ICE has an office there and you could be there for a long time, only to be released to see the inside of an airplane for a ride home on govt dime. Talk to Catholic Relief Services, have free lawyers who can advise you. USCIS people are clueless on immigration, avoid listening to them at all costs...
Unless you want to be an adult panda upon meeting USCIS....
