I am having problems getting original I-140 approval notice from my attorney, even after paying him his final bill. I am self petitioned can I us my courtesy copy of I-140 approval to file for I-485.

You can use a copy but

If you want the original call the attorney and tell him to send it immediately, or you will call the appropriate authories and file an ethics complain.

He\'ll send the original.

Jim please answer

I have fired my attorney two months ago ,Now he wants me to sign G-28 to get my original I-140 approval notice from INS!.I asked does that mean you have lost it ,he tells me he has not lost it but he changed his office and he has not opened all the mail and his office file boxes.
should I just go ahead and file I-485 with courtesy copy of my I-140 approval.I am a self petitioned NIW.I am tired of begging my attorney.
any advise will be appreciated.
thanks

Is the original I-140 approval notice required?

Based on your discussion, it seems that the original I-140 approval notice is preferred (required) for 485 AOS. Am I correct? Thanks.

To file your I-485, you need only a copy of I-140 approval notice

Excerpt from instructions for Form -485:
"Evidence of eligibility. -- Based on an immigrant petition. Attach a copy of the approval notice for an immigrant petition which makes a visa number immediately available to you,..."

"Employment-Based Applications
If you are filing based on an offer of permanent emploument in the United States, you should submit the following:
.i-485
.G-325A
.Copy of your I-797, Notice of Action, if your I-140 has been approved
.........."

But ,

I dont even have a copy of my approval notice. My attorney is not even faxing me a copy of my I-140 approval notice.Since I am a self petitioned NIW I get a courtesy copy of approval notice from INS.
