can we travel during h1 extension?

My h1 is expiring on June 30, 2009. My wife (H4) is going to Canada and comes back on June 26. During that time my H1 extension will be processed.

1st: Can she leave the US while I am filing H1 extension?

2nd: Will she have problems to come back (she will be back only 4 days before my and her current visa expiration)

1- She can leave the US if the H is in extension process, without extension, out of staus .....etc (unless she has court order by then she will be prohibited from leaving US)
2- If she come even in the last day, supposedly to be no problem especially if the H extension is granted
