Can we get SSN for dependent Children

Hi!

My I-485 is pending since Oct 2003. I need SSN no for my son. Whether he can get SSN when his I-485 is pending?

If yes, what are the requirements?

SSN no is required to apply for the FAFSA education aid.

You should get EAD for your son first, then after you get it, apply for SSN based on EAD.

He is entitled to EAD so long as his I-485 remains pending, so, there is no age limit. You should have applied for his EAD a couple of years ago, so he could have earned some money

I do not think there is an age limit, I heard of someone who received EAD for a kid of 6 y.o. or around that
We had a teen of 14 y.o. delivering mail, so sure one can work since 14.. and i think if you are self-employed you can officially hire your kids since they are 7 y.o. (I think I saw this when I filed taxes),
so sure 17 years is fine!
