Can we by pass a labor process by using a pre approved labor certification

My company told they are sponsoring my green card, they also said that they have a pre approved labor which exactly matches my position, they are going ahead with I-140. I din\'t understand this process. can you tell me if this type of process is valid and does it have any complications.
