Can the interview officer ask questions from new quiz for before Oct 08 filers?

I filed for my naturalization in June 08(before oct 08) and I got a book to read thru the 96(not 100) questions on day of my finger print.

I read on USCIS site that I have the option to take the new or old test. I have my interview next month but have no idea of what the new test is like.

Do the officers know to ask candidates questions from old test if you filed before Oct 08 and can I tell the officer I did not study for the new test if they ask something beyond the 96 questions from the old test?

Also am I missing 4 questions somewhere or are there just 96 questions in the old test?

Thanks

The IOs have been instructed that applicants who applied before Oct 08 have the choice between new and old test. If your IO doesn't give you this choice, request that he/she does. If IO still does not give you choice, ask to speak with supervisor.

So before they start the interview they should give me a choice. Correct?

Are there 96 questions in the old test or 100?

Generally the IO will ask you something like this:

"Did you prepare for the old test or the new test?"

So you can indicate to the IO at this point which one of the tests you would like to take.

Didn't happen that way for me the IO just went ahead and asked the old questions when I had prepared the new test, if it is a problem for you which test you get you should make it clear to the IO.
