Can the copy of I-94 be used when leaving US?

I applied for I-539 for my father in law this May. It looks like VSC's processing schedule for I-539 is only at Oct 2007. If he leaves now, can he use the I-94 copy? The original I-94 was sent with the application.

Thanks TC. Is there a way to go to local USCIS office to get something offical if we haven't heard a response in 3 months (most likely the case)? Thanks again.
 
What kind of official documentation are you seeking? The I-539 will eventually be approved or denied. Both verdicts will provide you with an official document.
