Can spouse of green card holder stay legally

Hi, I will appreciate if someone can help me with the below query.
Question is, if someone is in green card status and his spouse somehow comes to US in legal status, say visitor visa.
Now if he files for her greencard, can she stay here in legal status after the expiry of visitor visa. If yes, can she also apply for work permit and advanced parole and how long does it normally take to get the work permit.

For a fact I know that your spouse can file for you with a green card but I if you over stay your visitor visa then you will be out of status.
