Can somewone with H1Visa status with EAD card take up part time

Hi, Can somewone with H1Visa status with EAD card take up part time job and make double income. Basicaly i want to continue my H1 with my current employee and maintain my H1 status. But i would like to make some extra money by taking up freelance IT work using my EAD card.
Is this possible? If yes, what kind of tax form i shoudl use for the money i get paid for the parttime work. Is is 1099 ?

Using the EAD puts you in adjustee status and you have to file a new I-9 with your H1 employer as well. Your H1 becomes void. However, that should be no problem. Worst case you can always re-file an H1 petition, leave the US, get a new H1 stamp and re-enter in H1 status (without quota issues) if your I-485 gets denied.
