Can somebody Verify?? INS started processing Simple Company Name Change cases.

I just finished talking to an II about my case (company name change, tax ID and everything else same).

The person I talked to said that they started processing some of these cases where it is a simple name change (no acquisitions, mergers or organizational restructuring) and job description remains the same and that we might see some approvals soon. In my case probably a month to two.

I also asked him whether they received any guide lines on this and he said they don\'t have the guide lines yet, but they are going ahead with simple cases.
Has anybody else has similar information??

I just called after your posting. That IIO was pissed off when I asked about it and said that they haven\'t started processing cases with company name changes yet. God molest all these IIO\'s....

your 140 and 485 have different company name ?
How did the IIO know that your company name changed ?

Yes they do. My company changed the name just two days before I sent in my 485 application. So I put the new name on I-485.

I tried to call IIO today to check if they were approving cases on hold
for simple name changes since I am also affected. My case is with an offficer
from Dec 15 2000. I ]was on hold for 90 mins and I finally disconnected
My RD/ND is Aug/Sep 99 EB2 with PD always current. Has anyone else been
able to contact IIO about this issue

   I too eager to know whether INS started processing simple name changecases.
Since I called them a week ago, I am waiting
for another week to pass before calling them. This Friday I am
planning to call them and try to find out. I will keep you updated.
    This is why sometime back I suggested to form a group so that one or
two members of the group will call INS everyday to get the information
that we want to hear from them. The schedule should be in such a way
that the same person should not call more than once in a fortnight. This
way the group will get the continuos flow of information ( whatever it
is worth) with less number calls made by a single person.
    There are nearly 40 people who visit this site, affected because of
the name change. To keep the calling count once in a two weeks by a
member, 4 people can call everyday. Sometime back I compiled a list from
this site. There may be few additions and deletions to this list.

   Let me know what this group thinks.

Hi Mogoram,

In such cases its difficult to coordinate the calling so the best we can do is
call ourselves. I have called them very frequently sometimes even twice a week
and the IIO\'s have no reason to get upset since this is a very valid case because there are apparently only a handfull of people in this situation. In my case my I485
was filed on Aug 17 1999 and my PD was always current (right from the day of filing).
They have never told me that the case is on hold due to name change. All we can do
is to keep calling them and hopefully they can escalate the issue to their senior staff.
I even wrote to our local Senator and have yet to hear back from them
