Can PRs buy firearms?

yes you can buy a firearm as a LPR.
Sorry correction
Actually th person selling you the firearm is not required to enquire about your citizenship/imigration status. He/she asks for ID and a drivers license will suffice. You fill out a brief form and they submit it for bckground check. Even then it is only for handguns. You can buy a shotgun from any gun store without any questions asked. You could also walk into a gun fair and buy wthatever you want with very few questions asked. (not a semiautomatic though).
Most people posting here may live in metros/megalopolises where sometimes the laws regarding firearms may be stricter, but where I live,( north eastern PA) all schools are closed on the first day of deer hunting season so that kids can go hunting with their parents.

You have to show immigration status

LPRs can purchase firearms, but you have to show your GC because Clinton passed a law banning non-immigrants from purchasing firearms unless they get a hunting license. So you have to show imm. status now OR if youre non-imm. you can also buy if you first get a hunting license.

I don't think the sellers cares. Maybe on the form one needs to answer
"Citizens or Resident" or Yes questions. So Many non-immigrants buy
weapons. I am not sure about the consequences

AW..man...! Its time to do something with the firearm that you are going to buy. Pls do a favour to yourself..... if you know what i mean... :p

AW, why do you feel compelled to ask questons while you have all the answers?
Owning a firearm has nothing to do with hunting licenses. You indeed have to answer a question if you are a citizen or a resident, you also have to prove 3 months residency prior to purchasing a firearm. I am not sure where you are getting all your information about many immigrants buying firearms, but if you as a PR legally purchase a firearm through a licensed dealer, you have nothing to worry about.

let us get something straight here

an LPR is entitled to nearly all the same benefits and all the same rights as if they were a citizen.

the only people that can legally enquire about your legal status are government officers and your employer.

Remember that laws on regulating LPR firearm rights vary by stage. I live in Washington state. The regulation here is that LPRs must get a clearance from the state before owning firearms. In order to get clearance you need to ask your government (embassy) to issue a letter saying you do not have a criminal background. A satisfactory response or non-response is evidence of your making the effort and is good enough (I know it sounds stupid, but it’s the law).

Check your Sheriff department's webpage to see if they have regulations on owning firearms.

Purchasing from private sellers is really easy as many people exercise their 2nd amendment rights, but make sure you are in compliance with your state/local regulations.

sadiq

Guns and swords are ok to buy; knives need special permission. Paypal me $50 and I will take care of all the paperwork for you.

Many states have rules to decide what are weapons or not.
A typitcal one is the length of sharpened edge can not be
greater than the length of yoru palm excepting kitchen knives
etc

Depends on the state you live in

California is tough on gun laws but in Arizona, you can buy firearms from private parties without showing ID. To buy in a store, you will need ID (drivers license) and a background check.

Correct. The FBI background check includes a section where you must declare that you are a permanent resident, and show three months of residency in the state.

Incorrect with regards to shotguns. Buying a shotgun from a licensed dealer must be preceeded by a FBI background check. There is a section in it where it asks you whether you are a citizen. If not PR with proof of the same is acceptable. Nonimmigrants can get these under some very restricted conditions.
