Final Status is not decided at the POE

When you receive your travel document that means your status is validated and you are allowed to re enter to CANADA. My personal experience.

Also, even if you have been issued a travel document, they will still question you at the border. TD does not necessarily mean that you are a valid PR. The final status is decided at the POE by the immigration officer.

Make sure that you have valid (convincing) answers to the questions regarding your residency out of Canada.

How was your experience at the port of entry?

So you had been out of Canada since 2001. I do understand that you were issued a travel document but how the experience at the port of entry? Did immigration office ask you about the reasons for being absent from Canada for that long? Please advise.
