I know Hawaii is part of US but not the continental US. So, does one require an AP to travel to Hawaii or any other special documents if 485 has not been approved yet?

It is (considered as) a 'Domestic Travel', no immigration check is required.

Thanks. So that mean that there is no immigration check when you land in Hawaii through a flight that you baorded on from within US?

be careful, no check required for landing, but would require for comming back, and that could be a problem

But I though if I took a flight that originated in Hawaii and landed in US we would not need to go thru immigration when we come back. It would be just like coming back from LA to NY. Why would the check be not required while going but be required when coming back?

There is no immigration check going back. There's an agricultural inspection, but that's it.
