After filing the N400 and FP done can one travel outside the country for less than 6 months and come straight for interview.

Will that be an issue during the interview process?
Is it better to stay in the country till the interview is done.

The answer to that cannot be predicted in advance.

If the IO think you are living abroad, with intent to abandon your US residence, you will be denied even if you haven't broken the 6 month limit.

Remember that during the interview you will be asked about all travel undertaken since submitting your N-400, so the subject will come up for discussion.

I think it will be very suspicious to leave the country just after FP and come back just before interview. Unless it is work related with a US company, I wouldn't.

You will not have a problem if any of the following apply:

1. You have a form N-470 approved.

2. You are able to demonstrate during your interview that you never relinquished your US residency and will continue to reside in the USA after you obtain your citizenship.

There are numerous checks the USCIS will perform (by asking questions during your interview or asking to submit documentation).

If you have a genuine case, you should not worry about this too much.

If you are intentionally trying to skirt around the rules and do exactly the opposite of point #2 above, you will almost certainly be denied citizenship.

i personally havent traveled i havent seen my husband in a year cuz at the interview they will ask me and might deny my case even if u travel for 1 month they can get pissy and hold that 100%against u. if i were u i wouldnt travel..especially if u have traveled alot within ur 5 years of GC.
