Can my wife change her last name before we file?!

Hi immigration forums,

My wife and I recently got married on 03/30 and we are ready now to file for her permanent residence. She is here on a B2 visa (if that matters.)

I wanted to know, since she wanted to take my last name, how would we go about doing this? Would I need to change any ID for her to have my last name? Also would I use our family name in the application? I am just not sure how it all works out, please help :(

A formal name change is not required since you’re already married. Use whatever your last name is as her last name on the forms (I’m assuming the plan is for her to take up your last name).

List her current last name (as shown on her current passport/official document) under the maiden name / other names section of the forms you’re submitting.
