Can my STEP sister be a sponsor for adjustment of status?

I am 30 years old, unmarried.

I have a half sister though my father's side, she's a US citizen who just turned 21 yrs old.

Now, my father never married her mother.

The question is: can she sponsor me since she's the daughter of someone other than my mother and if my father never married HER mother?

I am not sure, but I don't think so, because the parents were not married and she is an out of wedlock child. Talk to an immigration lawyer.

ANd even if she could, immigration through a sibling takes 12-14 years.
 
Thanks for the reply. I found the info on it and you are correct. I guess I'll have to wait a couple more years until my father is a citizen.

Do you know if someone is eligible to apply for citizenship 3 years after marrying a US citizen or 3 years after receipt of residency?

actually it's 90 days before the third anniversary of your GC (and you have been married to a USC for three years and for all three years he has been a USC).
