Can L1B visa be renewed from US?

Hi,

I am on a L1B visa since June 2004. It expired in June 2005. I need to go to India this Aug/Sep 2005, but i have the consulate appt. only in Oct end. I am unable to find an earlier date.

My Question is ...To renew my VISA should i definitly go to India, Can i not do that from US? I have heard my friends saying that they have renewed by just sending it by post within the US. Is that still possible?

Now visa stamping is not available in US ,so need to visit US consulate outside
US e.g Canada or ur Country.

Since you are in L1B Visa, The Consulate in any Foreign Countries(Canada or Mexico) will not stamp a Brand New H1B. THey will do only if you have a valid US Degree.

You have to go to your home country(india) for stamping.
