Can I485 get approved while still waiting on Priority Dates ?

How do you know if your I485 case is approved and is just waiting for priority dates to get current ? Do you receive a notice stateing your I485 is approved but you need to wait until your priority dates get current.

Do they send any such notices at all or will they simply wait for priority dates to get current before they approve it ?
