can i work for other employer for some time while my greencard is inprocess?

i applied for US green card through one employer while i am working for them. Now i got a job with other company. Shall i take the new assignment and come back to old employer after some time. My GC status is still in labor. If i need to join with old employer, when should i come and join with them? Please advice.

Yes U can..

U need to join your sponsoring employer after GC approval. Just make sure that I140 and LC are not used for somebody else by your employer...
Even after I140 approval, if 485 has been pending with INS for more than 180 days, you need not join your sponsoring employer - per AC21 memo
 
today i came to know one new issue. my labour was applied in W Varginia. Is it nessary to work ony in that region? some body told me i have to work with other employer only in that region. is it true?

Before GC approval: your h1 's LCA determines where you can work.
After GC approval: GC is not strictly bound to W.Virginia, unless the location is mentioned in your responsibilities...
