Can I use EAD to work as a real estate agent?

Hi,

I am a software engineer working in a software company, I got EAD in Oct, 2007. Both my wife and I plan to take real estate salesman exam next Jan, after that, in order to be an agent, we will attach to a real estate broker firm. My question is can I use my EAD to work as a real estate agent? If so, can my wife use her EAD to work as a real estate agent?

your wife is free to work on ead as real etate agent. but if you r primary beneficiary then you can run the real est job only as part time. you still have to be to working in software as full time. you are suppose to be working for the same type of original job until you get your gc.
 
thank you so much for reply. I also have a question about using EAD, right now both my wife and I are still in H1 status. We filed green card through my company, if we only want to work as real estate agent as part time job, can be still keep our H1 status?

I think u are about 3 years late entering the real estate agent business.

A foreclosure agent would be way to go right now.

Once you start using your EAD.....you are no longer on H1 visa... Working even part time as a real estate agent on your EAD, will make your H1 visa no longer valid.... you will then be considered to be on EAD / Adjustment of status.... also you will have to fill out new I-9 form at your employer's HR... where they will note your EAD details....

Anyways, since I won't like to disappoint anyone with their career plans, zxmimmi, If the primary applicant choses to hold on to H status until GC is approved, it is better only the derivative use the EAD to work as real estate agent.
