Can I use a ballpoint pen to fill I-485?

While filling the I-485 form, can I use a ballpoint black pen to write the answers in the form?

The instructions mentions "Please answer all questions by typing or clearly printing in black ink".

Please help.

I did it with a pen

Should be OK. I filed 10 months ago using a ball point pen. INS did not complain.

How do I send the filled up I-485 forms? FEDEX/Certified mail/General mail?

And what does INS prefer?

INS doesn't care. I always send each case individually via fedex so I can prove delivery.
