can I track my 485 now?

Hi forks, I'm sort of new in this and may have silly questions. My 485 application was received Aug 2006 and noticed Aug 24 2006 by NSC. Now NSC are processing cases of Sept 6 or earlier. Could anyone tell me if I can make an inquire now? I finished finger prints and medical and everything but heard nothing. My 2nd question is: Do they still have visa available for EB-based (mine is EB1) for Sept and Oct?

Thanks a lot.

Do you really mean 2006? If 2006 I would definitely inquire about it, if 2007 there's not really much point yet. I also wouldn't put much store in the published processing times. It seems to be pretty random as to when approvals are given out - I would have thought an EB1 from Aug. 2006 would be approved by now, unless you are stuck in name check.

As for visa availability, Oct. 1st is the start of the new fiscal year, so new visa numbers will become available then. But they're still approving some cases so it looks like there are still some numbers floating around.

Yes it was Aug 2006. I called CIS 800 # last month but they told me I was ineligible for an inquire due to the fact that it had not been 30 days yet after processing time (at that time). My EB1-based 485 application was noticed on Aug 24 2006 and I called them when the processing time was Sept 6, 2006. They seemed very restricted on the inquire time frames. Is this the only path we can check the status of our cases? I filed everything via my company's attorney and she also suggested me to wait. I'm confused since people around me who have similar situation as mine are much faster than me and are often surprised when they hear my story, but both CIS and attorney said my case is on the normal track and don't let me do an inquire. Without an inquire, how could I know I'm stucked in name check or something else?

Really appreciate your time.

you should go for an Infopass

member123,
Please schedule an Infopass appt and you will get to speak with an IO directly.
Another way to check it in the case status online on the USCIS' website where you can see whether or not something is going on with your case.
Hope you get your GC soon.
