Can I Still Travel with my H1 after EAD approval and jobchange?

Ladies and G's. I am a H1 holder married to a USC. My notice date is June 26, 2006 and my H1 is good through August of next year. I am currently waiting on my EAD so that I can get a much better paying job (like many H1 holders, I have been restricted from advancing due to the difficulties in finding H1 sponsors). My question now is that if I change jobs using my EAD will this automatically cancel my H1 visa? Can't I use it to travel?

Thanks for all your advice and support, you guys are really helpful and I hope that we all are able to achieve the peace of mind we are striving for with our immigration applications.

After using EAD and changing job, you can not travel on your H1. Your H1 will get canceled. You can not have the cake and eat it too.

Ok, so that means one will have to apply for one of those travel paroles? Am I correct? If so, how do those work? Are they for one particular trip and does one have to specify a particular date when filling out the forms. Lastly, how long does is the processing time for those?

Thanks

Cool! Is it like a stamp in your passport or like a I797 seperate document that you take with you when you travel?

Thanks for the valuable info.

You mentioned you're a H1 holder. Have you ever changed jobs while being under H1? It seems like some employers keep you at a position and salary as long as they can while under H1. Seems like they take advantage of one's situation sometimes.

It's a seperate piece of paper that gets stamped when you re-enter the US.

I've worked for Universities the entire time I've been here, who tend to screw people a bit less on H-1. I've changed jobs 3 times on my H-1, and got pay raises each time luckily.

Righteous Man! Well hopefully it will be over pretty soon for you soon after 10/11? I haven't been able to move for about 6 long years! My mates who've gotten some experience and left are making almost double what I'm making.
