Do I need to send a cashier check or can i send a personal check with N 400 application? I dont see anywhere asking for Cashier check but not sure if a personal check will work or not?
Do I need to write day/month/year on the application for my previous address or a month/year is sufficient. I know the month, but dont remember the dates when Imoved out.

Yes, you can send personal check. It will also help you in knowing when USCIS encashes it.

If you don't remember, just write the month and year. No need to write the date.

That what I did? Paid by two Personal check, one for application fee and one for biometric and wrote my A# and name and purpose of the check on them.

If your bank or credit union gives you a small number of cashiers checks for free every year, use cashiers checks. One less instance of your checking account/routing number to go around, plus, no chance of the check bouncing. On the other hand, a cashier's check will not show to you as being cashed, as a personal check would, so you don't know when it was cashed.

I'm sure we will hear people wondering if they can pay by Visa/MC and get additional frequent flier miles for the victory trip home after Oath :-)

I would rather prefer postal money order than personal check. The personal checks will be accepted and it takes a little longer in encashing by USCIS and if it bounces (unlikely, but if it happens) you need to pay extra fee and the application process gets delayed.
