can I reschedule FP (urgent going to india on 30th nov)

Hi,
got finger printing notice (chicago area) for my wife on 12/18/01. will be on vacation in India at that time.Process of rescheduling the appointment says at the bottom of the notice.

Please reschedule my appointment for next available _ wednesday afternoon or staturday afternoon.

how to ensure that the rescheduled date does not again fall during vacation. also if i get my notice during my vacation what is the consequence of missing finger printing(without getting a chance to reschedule).

the notice says application will be abandoned.sounds too harse to me. anybody has any experience specially in NSC.

Its possible to reschedule.... Please sent a letter along with the reschedule notice mentioning the days you are out of town.. Also send it via FedEx or Certified, Return Receipt Mail so you can verify receipt.
 
FP done 3 weeks before scheduled

Just did FP today, it is scheduled for 12/22 when I will be out of town. Just went to the service center today and the lady is really kind and let us do it immediately!
 
Just walk in NOW and get the FP done

            You can just walk-in into the INS center and get the FP done the very next day you receive the FP notice. There is absolutely no objection to it. You can take your Indian trip tickets and show it to them for additional guarantee that you can do the FP ahead of schedule. I am telling this from the facts , and real time experience
 
It was not a problem in many places

So it shouldn\'t be a big deal in Boston too. Check other postings from Boston people. I\'m in TX, there was no problem when I went ahead of schedule. My freinds in Chicago and SF also went ahead of schedule, without any obligations. In case, if they ask for the reason to come early, just tell them that you are not available for the scheduled (say you will be out of country, or something reasonable). This is the worst case scenario, I hope it won\'t happen to you, and you can get it done in advance.
