Hi Guys

I had applied for RTD, around a week prior to my adjustment of status, LUD on my RTD application never changed since it was first accepted, last LUD was on 1/13/2006. My questions is:

1. Can I ask USCIS to issue me Re-entry permit instead of RTD, If Yes, then what is the process ?
2. What is the process to get it expedited

Please give your thoughts....

I dont think it will work, but can't hurt to try. Send a letter to Nebraska with copies of your GC approval and the card itself, and a newly filled out for for RP, and ask them to kindly throw out the RTD application and use the RP application.

Explain that you are doing this to save time and money and to save CIS time as well (they will have to process 2 applications instead of one if they issue you the RTD and you apply again for the RP :) )

You will verly likely get a letter saying you submitted an RP application without the fee and ask for the fee, but who knows--may be some adjudicator who's sould hasn't been corrupted yet will actually do it.

But hey, can't hurt to try!

Call your congressman's office, they can contact NSC directly and get it done

Sure you should try to submit a filled RP form to them now, buddy, with a cover letter saying you would like to submit RP but to withdraw RTD , without attachment of another check.

In the cover letter you may need to justify why RP is now preferred - why you should stay in overseas for more than 6 mo...

Not sure if you need congressman for this matter..
