Can I reenter US on old status?

I am on an H1b COS and am going for stamping this month. I heard that these days stamping interviews are getting tougher. I wish to know that in case of any issues with stamping,

1. Can I reenter US on my earlier status i.e L2 and continue work. I already have a valid L2 visa with EAD(before H1b, I was on this status with my employer)?


2. Is there a time gap that I must give before reentering or resuming my work?

1. If you have valid L2 stamp, yes.

If you enter by using L-2 stamp then you loose the H-1B status. Technically you can re-enter in the same day and start work.
