Can I miss my PR card schedule and apply before Dec 2003?

Hi Folks,

I still a bit unclear. Can I miss the schedule for my PR Card application, I landed in 2001 so I am supposed to apply between
Dec and Feb 28 2003 , I am planning to go to Canada in May 2003. Is it ok to apply PR card at that time??

I am in US. I called Citizenship Call Center because I can't call
800 PR Card phone # from USA. They asked me to call Canadian Consulate in US, then I tried calling Los Angeles , Seattle and Washington consulate. No one picks up the phone ... Answering machiine only.

At this time they dont have many PR Card applications pending, only few have applied and those who are Landing now are being supplied PR card, After August 2003 it will be rush time as everyone has to get PR card before December 31 ,2003

I hope Vault applied befire his schedule date and got it for family and one of my friend who was supposed to send his papers for PR card after December 2002, he sent the application in mid October and got his PR card ( he is staying in Brampton, ONT)
 
Hi Ginnu, you mentioned that one of your friend has got the PR card already. Do you know they if they asked him/her to pick up the card at a specific date and time, or he/she can pick up the card whenever he/she wants after it is ready? Also, do you know what documents he/she need to show them to pick up the card? Thanks

You will have to go in personally to pickup up the PR card on the given date and time. If you cannot make it, you can reschedule it. However there is no gaurentee that you will be rescheduled immedietly. It might take 3 months or so. Thats what I was told by the PR Card processing center.

I called CIC and asked them I I can apply earlier than my turn, they said "No".

So Have you already applied?

I am unable to call CIC from US on 1800 # , how did you call them ?? But I asked two of my friends to call them

1. One guy said at 1800 #, you can't apply early but you can apply late

2. Other guy said, if you miss your schedule and apply late , you need to supply genuine reasons for doing so

Any more info you guys have???

Guys,

This whole thing about apply early/late is confusing. Technically i was supposed to apply during December 2002 and March 2003. I sent the papers in and received the PR card in 1 month. Just send your papers in. The worst that could happen is that CIC will not process your application till your turn comes.
 
There is no problem in applying for PR card any time after your schedule, but it should be before DECEMEBER 2003
