Can I leave my employer?

Can I leave my employer now that they have not paid
me since I got my GC. I am still on their payroll(WITHOUT PAY).
Can I stay with them for 6 MONTHS( even if am not getting paid) and then leave them?
When it comes to CITIZENSHIP(if I want ot become a citizen), will it cause any problems? DOes it also matter when I have to renew my GC card?
IS GC renewed every 5 or 10 years?

there is no such thing as a six month rule after green card

It would be in your best interest to get it from them in writing that they cannot offer you a paid job
 
if u r not paid, u can DEFINATELY leave ur employer

 Job-based GC is renewed after 10 yrs but most of times people become citizen by then.

Keep no-salary pay-stubbs or any proof of u not gettng paid during this post-GC period. They may be helpful, if at all asked, at citizenship intvweview.

I just laidoff last week & my interview at Chennai is on July 19.Can I able to accept offer thru other employer from July25 after get back..as successful Cper..please let me know..Thanx..
 
gidiguy, question abt pay stubs? when u left for cp did u go on leave without pay as well?

on interview day, did they ask for latest pay stubs?
my company is saying they don;t want me to go on leave without pay..but i don\'t have vacation too.

sammie, all the best for your cp. When do you plan to leave?..just make sure you are on payroll. there is no risk if you go after u r laid off rite ?
