Can I keep my US residence in the State that I want to?

Here is my question. Please help me if you know more about these issues.

I am unsure weather I can keep my residence in the State where I live and work right now even if I start working in another place which is 2 hours driving away?
This new place is in the other State which belongs to different USCIS district.

I would like to keep the current residence and I am ready to apply for US Citizenship in a few days. This new job might be just for a few months but it pays very well and I really need it now.

I am also afraid that changing my residence now would delay (90 days requirement) and possibly mess up my citizenship application process (if I apply now and change residence later) because of USCIS district shifting??

So, could I keep my current residence?

As a consultant, I live in 1 state and work in another. That does not change my
residency. As long as your primary domicile (your home) remains same , you are ok

The concept of "residence" was always unclear to me.
Could someone please explain what actions than WOULD change my residence?


Is it if you change your driving ID, post office mailing address... or what else.....that you are considered to have actually changed your residence?

I would guess it consider that you change your residence.

I was a consultant. I have been living in CA for 4 yrs (and prior that i lived in different states before), but I traveled to different states for work / project.
