Can I go to india with Passport stamping but without Actuall Plastic GC

My I485 approved on feb 11/02 and I am waiting for Approval notice and then passport stamping at INS.
I want to go to india in march, can I go? Any Problems while coming back? Also when can I get the plastic GC? Pl. reply me.

I surprise if you face any big problem...

I went to India and returned back US on PP stamping.
Keep your I485 receipt as well approval letter during your travel.
I got plastic card three months after date of stamping. Plastic card time frame is not consistent. Call INS and keep checking your card status.
