Can I get TN after working as independent contractor?

I'm about to apply for my TN visa at Pearson in a few days and I'm suddenly wondering if it's a problem to tell CBP that I've been working for a US company as a remote independent contractor from Canada. To clarify, I've been working as a graphic designer for a NY based company as a part time independent contractor. The company now wants to hire me as a full time employee and relocate me to NY. My employer letter and resume has stated that I've been working at this company for a year as an independent contractor - should I expect any issues with this?

Where you working entirely in Canada? Or did you enter US on Business B1 status and "work" in NY , even for a day or week?
Attending business meetings in US is fine, but actually "working" in the US is not allowed. (hard to define, becoming more strict)
If you were only in US on B1 status for a few days it should be fine, anything over a week on B1 may not look good.

Does the NY company have a presence in Canada?

How were you compensated for your independent contract work? Paid in $US and deposited into a Canadian Numbered corporation?
Did they issue you 1099 tax slip?

As always suggested, never lie to a CBP officer, but also do not provide information unless specifically asked.

I visit New York every few months but only as a visitor not for business. I was working entirely from Canada. The company has a lot of remote workers and they just opened an office in Toronto about a month ago. I was paid in US dollars through Veem, an online wire transfer service.
I was not given a tax slip.

Let me know if I should redact the sentence about working as a contractor

They don't need your resume, so don't bother. No need to mention doesn't mean don't mention. Go to the border with what you have.
