Dear friends,

I am kumar working in a I.T firm in india. I have worked in dubai, singapore and malaysia previously and i have close to 8 years of I.T experience but unfortunately i have not completed by degree.

My company wants to send me to U.S to attend some trainings and i going to furnish all the details originally to U.S consulate while applying my B1 visa. what are the chances of getting the visa? i have a good I.T experience but only worrying factor is my degree, i have discontinued during my final year.

can you please advise

So if i understand clearly, the degree criteria for Indian citizen to get the B1 visa is not must.
I have not involved in any illegal activities and my papers are very clear. I have married, have 2 kids and have a own house here. I work in a very good position in my current company. I have previously worked on singapore, malaysia with a valid legal visas.

What else are meant by social and financial ties to India?

Hello,

can S K Ghori or someone help me to understand the B1 visa process please? i need to apply for the visa based on your inputs. Thanks

It is very simple. Make an appointment. Fill in DS-156 and other forms required by the consulate. Carry documents showing social and financial ties to your country of residence and appear for your interview. Good luck!!!

can S K Ghori or someone help me to understand the B1 visa process please?

Thanks S K Ghori once again. It is very helpful. I believe as per your comments that completing degree is not must to get the b1 visa. Thanks... i am going to file the file the interview appointment next week.

Today i had a long brief discussion with my HR manager and i told him apply for my U.S visa. But he think i won't get the visa if have not completed my degree. I have told him that i am more than willing to inform the U.S consulate that i have not completed my degree and if required i am ready go and explain my position to the counselor.
I am still worried whether the DEGREE is really needed to get the U.S B1 visa for indian passport holder? can anybody share your experience on this?

B1 is for doing business for your employer in your home country; if you are qualified for his purposes, you should not worry. However, you are not qualified for an H1B and will have difficulty on L1 as these rules are different. That is likely what HR is referring to.

Given your situation, there are likely to be suspicion by consular official about you intending to change status to F1 to complete your studies in the US.

Financial ties are such as your house and responsibilities (tuition payments to child's school, loans being repaid via work, ...). Social ties are family and organizations you belong to. If you are studying part time, this is also a tie.

All you can do is apply and await a decision from US officials.
