Can I get stamped with an expired passport? Please help.

Hello,
I am in a situation that I won\'t be able to get my passport renewed from my country. I am currenly working on a H1-B visa and am planning to apply for permanent residency. However, I recently learned that I will need an unexpired passport to get stamped during the "green card interview". Would it be ever possible to get a green card without an unexpired passport? I do have the I-94 validating my legal entry to the states, and my passport is expiring this June.

I would really appreciate if anyone can help regarding this matter.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, it\'s usually true that I could easily get a new passport from my homr country\'s embassy. Unfortunately, I\'m from Korea, and the Korean embassy won\'t re-issue my passport unless I go back and serve in the army for 2 1/2 years. Sigh.....
