Can I Get or Renew a Driver’s License While My I 485 Is Pending?

Hi everyone,

I currently have a pending I 485 Adjustment of Status application and I am trying to understand how this affects my driver’s license. Has anyone here successfully applied for or renewed a driver’s license while their I 485 was still pending?

What documents did the DMV request and did they accept the I 485 receipt notice, EAD, or another form of proof of status?

Also, does the process vary significantly between states?

I would appreciate hearing about your experiences and any tips on avoiding delays or problems when dealing with the DMV while waiting for a green card decision.
