Can I get married while I wait for GC approval

Hi
I am working as as engineer in New York City. I filled my I-485 in Dec., 2001......RD: Dec., 2001, ND: Jan., 2002. Can any body tell me how long it might take more? Also is it possible for me to get married outside USA and bring my wife with H4 visa within next two months before the approval (hopefully). I have my advance payrol. I did not apply for any EAD because My H1 is still valid. I have used one of my advance payrol.

I will appreciate your answer/suggestion.

If you are planning to get married. You should do it now - Before you get approved. ie. If you want your spouse to join you here immediately.

While on H1 you can bring your spouse on H4 immediately. Then you can apply for his/her 485. Both of you might get approved together or your spouse might take little longer.

If you do not get married now but after the approval then it will be few years before your spouse can join you.

You do not need to use Advance payroll as you are on H1 and have not used EAD. Use your H1. It is much more flexible.
