Hi visa experts

I currently have a student visa approved on 12/07. I know I can transfer or get a H1 visa, however I already had H1 visa for 6 years. From 10/2001 to 10/2007.
As you can see, I got my F1 visa right after my H1 expired and I didn't leave the U.S. during that time.
So my question is: Is it possible for me to get an H1 visa again and how would I go about that?
Do I have to wait 1 year with my F1 visa even without leaving the U.S or do I have to leave the U.S. for a year? What are my options?
