Can I enter Canada just on a Re-entry permit?

I had made plans to travel to Canada by road but recently lost my green card and have applied for a replacement (I-90). I am scheduled to be fingerprinted in two weeks and USCIS will not stamp my passport with the "I-551" stamp until I have done the fingerprints. I do however have a valid re-entry permit issued by USCIS and wonder if I could use only that as an entry document into Canada. I know that the US will allow me entry back into the US just on the REP.

Thanks

I am not too sure if the Canadians will entertain a REP as proof of PR status. Best you call your nearest Canadian consulate.
