Can I do the Medical and Police Reports before 2nd NL arrives?

Hi everyone!

Well the time is getting closer! My interview will be in March at the U.S. Consulate in Sydney, Australia and I'm getting very excited!

I just have a quick question which I'm hoping somebody (especially if you've had your interview in Sydney) might be able to help me with:

Should I wait for the 2nd NL to arrive before booking and attending my Medical Examination and Police Clearance?

I have heard that the arrival of the package can vary a fair bit, sometimes as late as a week before the interview date which would obviously be too late.

Are there any forms included in the package that would need to be brought with me to the doctors office?

I already have the form for the NSW Police Application for National Criminal History Record Check (p799), is this all that I would need?

Thanks for any help, this forum is priceless!

Dave.

I got my police cert beforehand and ended up having to get a new one because I heard that it has to be less than 6 months old.

About the medical, the doctors that your supposed to use are listed in the second NL so you may have to wait. I think the medical results are valid for a year though. I didn't have to bring anything to the medical from the second NL, could be different for Australia though. Don't forget to bring pictures with you, the doc told me I was the only one that he'd seen all month that brought them.

what about a police certificate from a country where i lived few years ago for one year, does it has to be also 6 months old or this term applies only for the country where you are currently living?

Hi luckyboy2009,

I think you should be okay. I'm in the exact same situation with my UK Police Certificate from when I used to live there. Here's the reply email I received from the U.S. Consulate in Sydney when I emailed them about it:

-----------------------------

QUESTION:
I am an Australian Citizen but resided in the United Kingdom from 1998 – 2001 so I have obtained a UK Police Certificate from the ACPO in the UK. Will my United Kingdom Police Certificate which is dated 29th May, 2008 be valid for my interview in March, 2009 at the U.S. Consulate in Sydney? Or am I required to obtain a newer certificate that has been issued within 6 months of my interview date?

ANSWER:
You are not required to apply for a new police certificate from the United Kingdom if you had not returned to the UK for 6mths or longer after the certificate was issued.

Hey kingweasel, thanks for your fast reply too!!! :)

dear davefromoz,
many thanks for your info. Did you get an attestation from local uk embassy onthis certificate or do you know if it is required?

No, I've never heard of this. I would have thought that the local UK Embassy would be interested.

Where did you hear that this needed to be done?

My interview will be within the next 2 months (March this year) so that shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the tip about the picture.

I already know which doctor I will be seeing as he is listed on this webpage:

List of Australian Doctors

So as long as I don't need to bring any forms with me from the 2nd NL I guess I should be okay?

Thanks again,

Dave.

Picture for medical????

Do you need the visa size one 2x2"? They are a rip off at €15. Have one left for my interview, other one went with the application.
Or passport size?
Does he keep it or just need to see it?

My interview is in March too.
Ill go sort out a police cert this week then.

I think you are in Ireland. Can you PM me the details of who to contact in Blackrock Clinic - may as well organise the medical too?
and are you who i think you are - boards??? ;)

Hey smcg,

Have you contacted the KCC to find out your interview date yet?

Good luck with the rest of your case!

Dave.

I rang last week and they said to ring back after Wednesday this week.
So I guess I'll ring on Thursday.

Best of luck to you too! Hope it goes well for ya

Hey, ooh right, I know who you are now! Yep, it's a 2x2 picture for the medical. He keeps it and puts it in with the medical results... I'll PM you the Blackrock details :)

Cool. Thanks
By the way, how many photos needed for the interview?
If one, then does that make total of three (incl one sent after first NL)?

Yep, just one picture for the medical. Then one more at the interview. That's how it was for me anyway.

So are saying three in total or two?
They're expensive these damn photos.

You'll need two more I guess. One for the medical and one for the interview.

They are expensive, I forget where you said you got them done, but last time, when I had to get more done, I found a place on abbey street that does them for €8. Cheapest I've found so far. It's just across from the Abbey street Luas stop. I forget the name but you can't miss it, it's just some photo store.
