Can I be on H1B and F1 at the same time?

I currently have an H1B and I\'m thinking of going to law school. I still want to freelance for my present company while in school. Is that possible? I have been in the US for 7 years. Am I still considered "out-of-state?"

Out of State or Nonresident

Throughout college, I was considered "out of state" status and had to pay nonresident fees (usually double). One can change "status" after one year of residing in the state. However, this is not applicable for foreign students. I was wondering if I go back to school, I would still be considered nonresident even though I have been here for 7 years and have filed taxes as a resident.

Immigration status is different from tax status.

Most probably you will be considered a resident only after getting a green card. h1 is a non immigrant visa.
