can i be independent consultant while 485 is pending? (with EAD)

If you have your own company EOM!
Not if using sole proprietorship

You can work using a sole proprietorship structure and minimize procedural hassles and taxes. You would need to file estimated taxes on a quarterly basis and the usual 1040 by 4/15.
You could do an LLC or LLP to limit liability. Good luck.

Could you post the specific site where it talks about people on EAD starting a company and doing independent consultancy. I recently got my EAD and want to work somewhere else or maybe even part time work by starting my own company but can\'t really find anything useful.

I am afraid my response was to dzou\'s second question and not the original posting/ first question. I am not aware if EAD allows a person to start his/ her own business though I have seen postings that are favorable. Example 5thYearNSC "Question, please help?" 10/18/01 2:48pm
Check with the SBA and maybe they can help - 800 UASK SBA. You could also post a query in lawyers.com
