Can I apply for work visa while my PR application is in process.

I have recently got response from one of the companies and they are interested in hiring me. But I am in dilemma and here is why

1) My Alberat PNP is approved and my application is at Buffalo Center for final processing, I still haven't got a call for Medicals etc. That is due to happen anytime in January, Feb or March 2011 at the most.

2) The new company is in Toronto, ON

So will there be any problem if I apply for a work permit and start working in Toronto while my Alberta PNP application which is at Buffalo Center for final processing. Appreciate response.
