Can I apply for a (Indian) PIO card?? Please help.

Hello Friends,
Just this Friday I was laid off from my job (thanks economy) :mad:and so I am currently looking for work full time. My other main concern is that I was planning on applying for my PIO (person of Indian Origin visa). Now what do I say on the form where it asks for occupation/work phone #? Unemployed?? Leave it blank?? Would I be denied PIO visa for no job? I still have to cancel my Indian passport and I have my Indian birth certificate with me. Would that be enough to get my visa or I have to have a job to apply for my PIO visa? I really appreciate your comments and suggestions guys. Thanks for your help.

Thank you so much for your response. WOW that is a good relief I will apply ASAP. So I guess I will leave the occupation part blank. As always thanks for your help.
