Can I apply AP at Newark INS

I heard from someone, we can apply AP renewal directly at local INS (Newark in my case). Has anyone done it or is there some info regarding this on some other thread, please lemme know

All help appreciated, planning on India trip in Januray.

I may be wrong, but I think, any processing at a Local office on any case is only after a Transfer, or In an Emergency.

Regular processing has to go thru the Respective service Center.
 
You can apply for AP in the newark office I have applied for both me and my wife and got it the same day.
Take all your documents like:485 reciept ,140 reciept etc becuase he asked for that for my wife.
 
Question

I live in mid west and wanna apply for AP. My service center is VSC. my nearest INS issue AP in 2 to 3 weeks and not on the same day. I need to travel out of country next month.
Please advice me on getting the AP quickly
