Can H-4 apply for SSN?

Hello, I am in the US and in H-4 status. Can I apply for SSN (Social Security Number)? It's just so frustrating not having SSN in the US. I go to the bank, insurance, etc... they require SSN. Anyone can advise?

No SSN for H4

You cannot get SSN for H4.

You can have a driver's license without SSN (SS Office issues a letter to MVS). You can have a credit card too (Your spouse can request one for you).
You cannot work legally without SSN.
