I have a FP appt at an ASC in my county......I work 5 days a week at a place which is about 2 hours from my original ASC and there is an ASC quite close to where I work. Can I take the FP appt document and instead walk-in to the ASC near my work place instead to going to my assigned ASC. Has anybody done FP at an ASC other than the assigned ASC ??

Thanks.

Yes.. it depends on the officer at that location. If you show up on the same day and time... they might not even notice that you're at wrong location... It is said that if you go in the afternoon when there is not many people they would take it. If the office is busy they might not take it.

It is worth a try... you can go before your scheduled date then if they don't take it then you can go to your original office and time.

Good luck!

Here is how it went

My fingerprinting was originally scheduled for Modesto ASC for 05/29 at 8:00 am which was not convenient for me. So I went to Modesto ASC on 05/27 around 2:00 pm in the afternoon.. There was not a soul [applicant] waiting in there. I fancied my chances. There was no guard as well, just the employees who were idling and chatting among themselves. One of them came up to me , took my FP notice , asked me to sit and went inside. He returned in a few mins and rudely told me to come on the scheduled date and time... I requested him to accomodate me since I work in San Jose and since anyways there were no other applicants waiting .. He again rudely told me either you come on the scheduled date and time or reschedule for Modesto to another date , or reschedule to San Jose ASC. I then drove to San Jose ASC, reached there around 3:30 and oh boy what a difference in attitude there. The guard saw my FP notice and politely told me you have appt in Modesto , you want to do FP here, I said yes. He said sure , we have many people today , come on Friday at 8:00.

So I went to San Jose ASC this morning and did the FP. They never bothered that I was scheduled at Modesto ASC. Very nice and courteous staff and done in 10 mins.

So bottomline, the answer is YES, you can do FP at another ASC if it is convenient to you, BUT you may have to do it on the scheduled date/time on your notice. If you are lucky, they may even allow walk-in ahead of schedule.

The employee at Modesto was abusing his power since no one else was there and he just didn't feel like accommodating you. A talk with his supervisor may have helped them accommodate you.
It reminds me of my FP walkin. I got to DO at around noon and was told to come back later around 3:00pm. Came back at 3:00pm and they were finishing off last scheduled appointments. They then made me sit in waiting area as I watched the workers finishing off and just sitting around talking. Finally one worker noticed I was only one left waiting and asked "have you been helped yet?". I told them yes, but that I was told my name would be called. Despite the fact that all the employees had no work to do and managed to socialize with eachother , they managed to miss calling my name.
Some of these ASC workers are pathetic with no customer service skills whatsover. There are some good ones, but the bad ones spoil the reputation for everyone.
