Can derivatives move before principal applicant

Does the principal applicant have to travel first or the dependents can travel to the US before the principal applicant? Can someone please point me to documentation that states this or otherwise.

The PRINCIPAL must enter with their IMMIGRANT VISA (or adjust status) either before or at the same time as the DERIVATIVES enters on their IMMIGRANT VISA (or adjusts status).

It is stated in the INA that a derivative may "accompany or follow-to-join" the principal.

That said, the actual setting up of housekeeping may be as complicated as you want. Go back and forth again and again with or without reentry permits depending on specific timetables and/or plans.

yeah! Some months should be within the visa expiration.And on no condition shall the derivatives move in before the principal applicant.He must move in with them or they come in later.Respect the expiry date on the visa.

My uncle entered first and a month or two after he 'activated' his GC, the family entered. They would have wanted to come in later but had to enter before Sept. 30th to activate theirs.
