Can anyone shed some light on this issue?

Just saw something that gave credence to

the post above.
Was checking for a few jobs and came across this
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/svjug-jobs/message/919
Also at http://www.apollodesign.com/seekers.html#engineering

Job Title: Motor Actuator Engineer
Description: Rotor Design; FEA analytical modes; rotating actuator knowledge; materials and components; thermal analysis -- air, liquid, or cooling; schematics; thermal application of power design. Must be US citizen.

Whatever happened to equal opportunity employment?

I don't know how correct the information is but my firend was telling me that one of his friend has green card and applied for 55 jobs recently and most of them rejected him saying they need to do a background security clerance check and will hire citizen only. Again its just a hearsay and I don't know the person directly. I did not believe my friend when he told me this but after reading similar posts on this forum, it could well be true. This is definitely a cause of concern. I have started to wonder what good green card will be if this is the situation?

security clearance is required...

for certain jobs...like some federal army/navy etc programs.
Only citizens with a level of security clearance can work (even for those born here).
The jobs described might be one of those.

Hmmm!!!!!

I agree with you all regarding the security clearence for Govt. jobs (it has always been there for ages) but the brazen posting in Yahoo groups for a job for www.ign.com (their website is mostly about video games) makes me wonder if a class suit can be initiated for discrimination.

Guess only time will tell the reality.
